Description

As demand for solar and energy storage grows, traditional “fit-and forget” interconnection approaches are increasingly misaligned with grid realities. Flexible Interconnection (Flex IX)—where DERs are operated under agreements that allow for limited curtailment to manage system constraints—is an emerging tool to accelerate clean energy deployment while maintaining grid safety and reliability. Establishing these programs, however, has required a steep learning curve in each state and utility service territory. This roundtable will discuss a new Flexible Interconnection Toolkit that guides states, utilities, developers, and advocates on establishing Flex IX programs. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, provide input, and discuss pathways forward.
